So .... Gaza

A cunning plan. Send the kids to play soccer on the beach. That's a sure fire way to get them shelled by Israel. Oh, so clever.

Channel 4 reports.

Oh, if these kids were Syrian and you thought they were killed by Assad's forces ... what an outcry there would be.

How do you know they are not Syrian?
probably not even killed by Assad

Due to Obama's Smart Diplomacy tm, Assad has become the lesser of the evils in Syria

The Syrian civil war is no longer the Syrian civil war. It’s a regional war that started in Syria, has expanded into Lebanon and Iraq, and has drawn in the Iranians and to a lesser extent the Kurds and the Israelis. There’s no reason to believe the Syrian civil war has finished expanding or that an end is in sight.”

Hamas strategy is to get dead baby pictures, you just posted a Hamas dead baby picture, Hamas strategy wins!

And the first responders ? Cameramen to take the dead baby pictures

And where were they supposed to go? It IS propaganda because they AREN'T going to flatten entire neighbourhoods - not because they don't want to but because they can't deliver munitions fast enough and because they can't really get away with it. However, Israel knows that it would be a nightmare for Hamas to have thousands of homeless people sweeping back and forth up the strip with every leaflet drop - but I'm sure they don't really even expect that to happen. Israel will know that these people can't really run from house to house because they don't have the means to do it and they would rather take their chances at home the way Americans do when someone tells them a hurricane is coming.

One major value of those leaflets is for Israel to point to and say - "See? We warned them to get out of the way".
It's also the same sort of leaflet propaganda the the British dropped in WWII on German cities (in addition to terror bombing). American forces did similar things in Japan and Vietnam and Korea.

I presume that you would not be willing to defend your home and your country with your life.

Still, the question remains - if you know that a place is crowded with people and you have a choice to destroy it or not, who really kills those people when you chose to fire?

Let's try an analogy - it might help, then again, it might not.

There's a guy you are trying to shoot for whatever reason - maybe he's living in a house that you want to live in so you need him to be dead.
His mother stands between you and him - she wants to protect him from you - so you shoot her. The question is, did you kill her or did she commit suicide? Different kinds of people answer this question in different ways. One kind of people will say that obviously since you had the discretion to fire or not then you are culpable. The other kind of people are in jail or in PR.

You know you really shouldn't talk about Syria because if that was a photo of dead Syrians killed by Assad you sure as shit would not have posted it here.

And btw, Metalman is kinda right in the sense that Hamas is not getting the typical support they normally do. But that's because Hamas has sided against Syria and thus burned their bridge of support. It seems Palestinians sympathized with the majority of Syrians and that's probably because they understand what it's like to live under an oppressive and authoritarian regime. And that makes sense to me as it at least shows that Hamas is consistent - they're fighting for freedom against tyrannical oppressor who are funded by foreign powers and they oppose other tyrannical oppressors funded by foreign powers. Which is why I'm rather baffled as to why you've done a 180 on this. On one side you support the under dog and on the other hand you support the establishment. It only makes sense once you realize that Israelis are Jewish and well, that's probably all one needs to know to understand that funny little paradox.

NBC reporter that say the boys killed was pulled out of Gaza by the network. There seems to have been sufficient public backlash to have the network reconsider so he's going back in.
Not much of a conspiracy there though. Yes he was pulled, but mostly because NBC wanted to insert a higher profile reporter there: Richard Engel.

NBC News Foreign Correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin returned to Gaza on Sunday, four days after network management told him to leave the conflict zone amid breaking news coverage.

"The producers are so paranoid about the ratings, they'll do anything to stick with the faces viewers know and trust -- so that would be Richard over Ayman," said one of the employees.

But let's ignore the facts so we can spin into a favorite conspiracy theory.

Is it a war crime to use medical facilities, schools, homes as places to warehouse weapons?
Bit of a gray area really. Israel and her allies make that case. However, there is little evidence that all or most of the civilian targets are being used so and even if they were, you still can't blow up hospitals. The purpose of blowing up the hospitals is to make life wretched for the people of Gaza.
