Egyptian media applauds Israel’s Gaza offensive

In 2013, a significant chunk of the Egyptian media called for the Muslim Brotherhood’s “liquidation”. That same sentiment is now applauding Israel’s efforts to disarm Hamas, originally the Brotherhood’s Palestinian branch.

These Egyptian journalists link Hamas to ongoing violence in the Sinai Peninsula where in the last 12 months, armed Islamist groups have attacked Egyptian security forces on an almost daily basis.

As I already said, the current government of Egypt is an Israeli ally, but the current government of Egypt took power by military coup for which the US conveniently withheld condemnation - because if they had acknowledged the coup they would have been forced by US law to suspend sending weapons.

However, the guys that won the election prior to the coup were pro-Palestine. Having Egypt under the control of a military regime that's a friend of Israel is part of what is enabling Israel to do what it is doing right now.

That would be the kind of thing we might hear if we had a press that wasn't in Bibi's pocket. It would be kind of unfair to point out that Hamas had rejected a ceasefire proposal that would have left Gaza under the current siege but that Israel had also rejected a proposal that would have them lift the siege. 2) If it were true then Israel could deny Hamas a propaganda victory by refusing to kill those women and children.

There is more than one ceasefire proposal. You only know of the one. Israel doesn't like to talk about the one brought by Qatar because it has a condition that would require Israel to lift the 8 year siege of Gaza (which is not only an act of war but also a war crime).
