Metallica, Anthrax, Raven, and Cro-Mags Members Pay Tribute to Marsha Zazula of Megaforce Records​


After we shared the news that Megaforce Records – co-founder Marsha Zazula died yesterday, there has been an outpouring of support and love from the music community and those around it. Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Gary Holt of Exodus, Anthrax, Raven, Bif Naked, and many more. RIP.

James Hetfield of Metallica said in a statement (as provided by Q Prime/Adrenaline PR): “Marsha Z is the Metal Matriarch of the East Coast. She was our mother when I had none. She made great sacrifices for METALLICA to grow. Thank you, Marsha. Love and positive energy to the Zazula family.”

Sylvain Sylvain: New York Dolls guitarist dies aged 69​

The guitarist also contributed songwriting and piano to the band's explosive debut album
Sylvain Sylvain, guitarist with trailblazing 1970s rock band New York Dolls, has died at the age of 69.
One of the group's founding members, his visceral riffs bridged the divide between punk and glam, and helped kick-start the punk and new wave movements.
 

Tim Bogert Dies: Bassist With Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge & Cactus Was 76​

Tim Bogert, who was part of such major acts as Vanilla Fudge and Cactus and later in the super-group Beck, Bogert & Appice, died today of cancer. He was 76. His death was confirmed by his former bandmate Carmine Appice.

At his death, he was working with Beck and Appice on a forthcoming Beck, Bogert & Appice live album

Bogert was long considered one of the great rock bassists during the heyday of the genre in the 1960s and ’70s, one of the few early rockers whose solos could hold an audience.
 

‘The Natural’ Butch Reed Passes Away At Age 66​

Butch Reed has passed away at age 66 due to heart complications.

The following statement was posted on Reed’s official Instagram account:

To everyone who reached out god bless you. Today we lost a great man. Due to heart complications Bruce ‘Butch’ Reed passed away. Butch is in heaven now with the wrestling god’s. I am sure he is already booked for a Heavyweight Championship match. Once again thank you for all the prayers. We will keep this page going in his memory. For funeral arrangements send me a dm for information if you would like to attend. God bless everyone and god bless in heaven “Hacksaw Butch Reed”

Reed had been having health issues related to the two massive heart attacks he suffered earlier this year. Reed was well-known for his run with Ron Simmons as “Doom” in WCW where they won the promotion’s Tag Team Championship in 1989. He also had a run in WWF in the early 1980s as “The Natural” Butch Reed and also went by “Hacksaw” Butch Reed in Mid-South Wrestling, where he enjoyed fierce rivalries with Junkyard Dog and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.

Rush Limbaugh, Talk Radio Legend, Dies at 70 of Lung Cancer​

Conservative icon Rush Limbaugh, who single-handedly created the era of national political talk radio and had the most listened to program in U.S. history, died Wednesday of lung cancer a year after announcing his diagnosis with the disease. He was 70.

Limbaugh's wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show.
