Well Tom & Barbera Good were financially secure middle class home owners who'd paid for their home already and decided to toil in the dirt as a lifestyle choice.

I don't think too many today could hope to do that.

From a historical perspective the Scottish results are absolutely astonishing.
From a practical perspective, they probably won't mean that much, given the Conservatives have an outright UK majority (albeit with only one seat in Scotland, same as Labour and LibDem) so will do pretty much what they please, up to and including telling the SNP to do one.
