U.S. intelligence estimates conclude that Russia has no intention of invading Ukraine. This, despite the launch of a massive, new Russian military exercise near Ukraine’s border and moves from armed men to seize two key airports in the country's Crimea region.

These Russians are merely lost, took a wrong turn, oops! we're in Crimea!

Obama issues a very stern but very vague warning to Russia

Aah! they're just reinforcing their naval bases in the Crimea, to "protect" them.

sounds like a perfectly valid explanation, probably some airports that need protecting too!

Russia is ready to help Ukraine as it seeks to stave off economic collapse, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday after talking with his Russian counterpart.

another perfectly valid explanation, they're there to help them "economically"

The Charge of the Light Brigade

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

1.
Half a league, half a league,
space.gif
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.

2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
space.gif
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.

3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
space.gif
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
space.gif
Rode the six hundred.

4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
space.gif
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
space.gif
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
space.gif
Not the six hundred.

5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
space.gif
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
space.gif
Left of six hundred.

6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
space.gif
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
space.gif
Noble six hundred.

Revealed: The forgotten treaty which could drag the US and UK into WAR with Russia if Putin's troops intervene in Ukraine

Who could have predicted this ???

from the Wayback machine: Oct 2008

Palin helpfully offered four scenarios for such a crisis, one of which was this strange one:
Foreign Policy magazine editor Blake Hounshell, who now is one of the editors of Politico magazine.:
As we've said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario
Obama's predictive powers are AWESOME!
Febuary 27th, 2014

Obama noted that any Russian incursion coming so close to the end of the Sochi Olympics “would invite the condemnation of nations around the world. And indeed, the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.”

Russian upper house approves use of military force in Ukraine

The vote followed a request from President Vladimir Putin for approval to send troops into Crimea to normalize the political situation there.

Russian energy giant Gazprom said Saturday that Ukraine is $1.55 billion in arrears on payments for natural gas deliveries, which may force the firm to cancel the discount it agreed to last year, Russian state-run RIA Novosti news agency said.

Russia must not respond to western interference in Ukraine by interfering.
There is real politik at play and Ukraine gas pipelines are not an insignificant part of the game, nor domination of the oil and gas fields of the Middle East for which we would rather have no competitors. If only our politicians could speak plainly about the game but the moral gymnastics and the hypocrisy make me angry. Of course it would be hard to speak so plainly because of that little thing called International Law but haven't we already learned over the last couple of decades that International Law is hardly applicable to the worlds sole super power. Hasn't the actions of the rulers of the world's sole super power demonstrated that even their own laws don't apply to them, just to the lower classes. Just tell us who you're raping and why and we'll deal with it. Just stop lying and telling us you rape and steal for a higher moral cause.

Not a Putin kissing video at all but maybe too critical of non-Putin actors to be seen as anything other than a Vladimir lover fest.

I definitely agree that these Ukrainians have more balls than our Occupy Wallstreet crowd who just took their beatings like good citizens. Nope. Go home, get your cammo and helmets and guns and come back for a proper protest.
I bet if we started behaving like that Prime Minister Harper would immediately repeal the law that bans us from participating in a riot and the law that prevents us from blocking traffic and public thoroughfares and laws that prevent us from protesting without a permit and would tell the riot squad to go home and then would call for new elections. ... Because that's how democracy works.

Secretary of State John Kerry called it an invasion, and Ukraine has now mobilized its army. President Obama spoke with President Putin of Russia on Saturday after warning there would be costs, should Russia intervene. DAVID GREGORY: So what are the costs?

one word summary: opprobrium

Kerry went on all the Sunday shows except for Fox News, so if Kerry can't stand up to a few questions from Chris Wallace, what is the result of his negotiations with Putin likely to be?

If only Hillary was still Secretary of State, at least we'd know which YouTube video to blame for the Russian invasion.

Reset button??

No revolution, just a change of elites.

I just have to quote this little gem, because how many people can I really expect will actually read the article. It would be sad to miss this:

Recently, the press secretary of the Right Sector gave an interview saying "we need to tell Europe the right way to go" and save it from the "terrible situation" of "total liberalism", when people don't go to church and are tolerant of lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender rights.

Austerity, suckers! That's what you fought for and now you're gonna get it.
The issue at hand was whether Yanukovych should accept a closer relationship with the European Union, which was demanding substantial economic “reforms,” including an austerity plan dictated by the International Monetary Fund. Yanukovych balked at the harsh terms and turned to Ukraine’s neighbor Russia, which was offering a $15 billion loan and was keeping Ukraine’s economy afloat with discounted natural gas.

In the upside-down world that has become the U.S. news media, the democratically elected president was a dictator and the coup makers who overthrew the popularly chosen leader were “pro-democracy” activists.

While the former "dictatorship" (i.e. elected government) had the audacity to try to make it illegal to wear masks and helmets and firebomb the police, the new guys show how democratic they are by banning the use of the Russian language in broadcasts. In fact, screw all you regions with minority languages, including Greek.

The Western media immediately went apesh!t over this intolerant act to the extent that I only needed to go four pages deep into google news before I found a non-RT source for the story.
