In-the-line-of-duty deaths of law enforcement officers jumped 13% in 2011 compared to last year, according to preliminary figures released Wednesday by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

As much as we all hate bad cops, most officers are indeed good people trying to do the job with honor.

Good Cops thanks for your contribution and work well done. In 2011 one stand out Sheriff was Dave Mahoney of Wisconsin. Gov Walker was ordered by the court to open the buildings. The Sheriff was told by Walker to do no such thing. Sheriff Mahoney pulled his men out of there handing it over to State Police. Certainly the Sheriff should not be following an unlawful order.

As for 173 police dead it's sad. But, I do question the wisdom of those, such as Eric Holder, that called this a trend. It's one year of an increase. A trend really depends upon outcomes in future years.

no id project a five year trend since obama will likely be re-elected, at any rate its already a trend for as many years as its been increasing, which is at least two.

The most officers were killed in large states, such as Texas and California, and states in the South, seven of which were in the top 13:

they want the black guy out of the white house and they are as sick of corruption as most...
