What's the practical difference between a drug that doesn't exist and a drug you can't possibly afford? Not a damn thing. Even at Rick's current $1.3 million a year, a million a year drug bill would pinch.
yup what he doesn't seem to get is that if you are sick/poor you AREN'T buying a 900 buck iPad. do drugs cost lots of money to develop? of course did the Apollo missions cost time and money to get us to the the Moon? you bet that's why you set up a system to pay scientists, engineers, etc to live while they develop the technology to get the job done. Then you use that resulting technology to create new products for society which continues to help people and bolster the economy. it's a win win this asshole doesn't realize that making people well is actually a Good thing for everyone.
I think there's clearly a bigger problem when anybody can feel justified in comparing paying for a luxury piece of consumer hardware to paying for life-saving medical care. You aren't going to die or have significantly reduced quality of life for the lack of an iPad, no matter what your financial status.
