Ridiculous - now, if they made it illegal to be on facebook, I'd support that. However, having the government enforce terms of service? That's a bit ridiculous. The companies that host have the responsibility to do that but moreover they actually have the power to do that.

The linked article seems to think this is some new avenue for the Federal Reserve. Truth is, I'm quite sure they already follow public opinion very closely. They just want to build a new tool to automate the data collection. I'm just surprised they posted it publicly. There's several companies already starting to publish that they have the ability to do this for customers (and had already been doing it for various branches of the government). Part of the fallout from the HBGary fiasco showed that.
