Good morning guys,

Last night, too late really, I decided to upgrade the site from Xenforo 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 when I got bitten in the ass (proverbially speaking).

Site got stuck in a "site's closed for upgrading / upgrade file not found" loop where I uploaded the files (which closes the site) but then when I went to upgrade, the site reported that the upgrade.php file was not found...

Had to fire off an S.O.S. to the support team who investigated overnight and found a custom .htaccess file, presumably left over from the SocialEngine experiment and got us back online.

Sorry about that, not that you care :)

OK. Weird shit is happening.

- The backgrounds are no longer working.
- I seem to have lost the ability to move items around on the layout, so when I deleted the "recent threads" at the top here, it went away.

I'm guessing I know what happened, but getting it back may be troublesome to say the least since -- like an idiot -- I didn't make a backup immediately prior to upgrading the site. This is something I did (wrong mouse click), so I just have to logically step my way back to getting it fixed...

Hang on, should get interesting...

I must have been asleep when all this was going on.
But it explains why I had to log back in now

So that's what happened!

As for backups... Yeah, we've all been bitten at least once by those over the years. Live and learn :)

Try not backing up an entire computer - always hit "remind me later" as I was busy - I suck at multitasking is my excuse, but I simply thought I'd do it later and never got around to it. Weeeeelllllllll........ that didn't quite work out so well, but the tech at Best Buy was able to fix everything - leaving me to download stuff they "weren't authorized to" like my browser and e-mail program, Norton, Adobe stuff, Microsoft Office, browser plug ins and the like. Oh, but they certainly installed Kaspersky internet security - so I picked my laptop up today, saw that on the desktop, so told the tech, well you can simply uninstall that as I did not authorize that and I know the work order specified that, and nothing is going to mess with my norton anti virus. I just renewed Norton 360 Premier for two years and 5 devices, so no way am I putting some software I don't like because I am unfamiliar with it on my machine. But I digress. Being that I've known Wayne for 9 years, I should have known better as he has told me so many times about computer security and backing up data. Live and learn indeed and you're never too old to admit another person was right.

Yeah, but you missed the part where even I didn't make a backup because it went so flawlessly on salemspectator.com, I thought "it's just a x.x.1 revision, what's the worst that can happen...?"

Arse bitten, lesson learned, though I have to say, it wouldn't have helped any because a backup would have contained the exact same faulty .htaccess file.

Javascript fixed. Mischief managed. Goodnight all.

Javascript appears to be working again, as are the backgrounds (though I may need to go back and re-optimize them again for speed of loading)

Starting from default packages, I reinstalled the JS directories from;

1) The core package
2) The two theme packages
3) The album package

Then recompiled everything and put the "latest posts" back on the forum page (though I moved them down to see if it helps with the clarity of the page).

Lemme know if there's anything else I can screw up tonight.
