This is the obligatory "ping" message to see who's still out there and who might have disconnected from the ether that drives Whyzzat. Well, "drives" is a weird word. Maybe it kinda mozys, or shuffles, but there's apparently forward motion involved somehow.

Anyway. Ping. Awaiting response.

I'm always hovering.

That being said, I miss the good ol' days when I had a low-end job that -- while it didn't pay shit -- allowed me to sit and start sites like Amiga.org and run them for 8 hours a day without much else to do... Of course, I didn't have real bills back then, and my rent was like $300 usd per month (if that). My car was paid off, and there was no Internet..

Come to think of it, my rent was $285, plus I had a telephone (not cell), and cable bill. That was about it. Nowadays, my bills all combined are about 10x what they were (rent/util/internet/phone/car/insurance, etc). I only make about 5x what I did, and don't usually have much time left to tinker (hence the state of things here...).

When I note that the user status box hasn't been updated since 12/26/2014, I just have to ask... So, how has everyone been?

well, all of last year was hellish - basically almost everyone in my family had a "medical" issue, my aunt died last jan, mom got her gallbladder out in the spring, my brother had to be brought to the ER in the fall, then mom fell down, got hairline fractures in her pelvis and some sort of weird infection, then after bringing her home on dec 22, i came down with shingles.

we are doing ok now

whew

Wow C... Sorry to hear about all of that, but glad to hear that everyone's relatively OK now.

Seems life got complicated...

thanks....my shingles was the least of it, frankly.

it really gave me a great excuse to STOP and just rest.
Taking care of my aunt and mother these last several years has been quite exhausting. I do ALL the driving - doc appointments, grocery shopping, picking up meds (mostly for my aunt), etc.

All of that just wore me down.

fortunately, my mother doesn't have any ongoing medical issues, unlike my aunt. It shouldn't surprise you to learn that my aunt smoked. She stopped around 1999 after she got breast cancer. She was convinced that the cancer treatments gave her neuropathy in her feet and hands. Since she never had diabetes, she might be right...who knows for sure?

Anyway, she had to take about 6 or 7 pills everyday (often more than once a day) and I kept track of getting all that from the drug store. Exhausting!

My mother basically only takes a prescription calcium pill once a week and a low dose aspirin everyday which is damn impressive at her age - at least all the doctors and nurses think so. Of course, my mother never smoked or took drugs.

Mom has all her marbles but sometimes she gets forgetful and I still have to watch her - she can get tired quickly. Fortunately, mom is a reasonable person so we can discuss schedules and strategies to make sure none of us overdo.

Winter has been stressful.....these are not the winters of my childhood. Temperatures below freezing MOST of the winter is not normal. That affects how long snow stays around and that affects driving.
oy vey.

looking forward to spring

Damn C, well, at least you're getting a bit of a rest... So there's something :)

For myself I'm elbow deep in a catering course at the moment. enjoying it a lot. Hopefully by July/August I'll have fully qualified as a chef.

LOL...agreed!

mine was on my face.
warm compresses worked best but the first 6 days it kept waking me up all night.

After I saw the doctor I got an anti-viral AND steroids (probably because it was on my face). So for several days I had ROID RAGE.

I only took it for 3 days but, man that stuff is weird. Because I realized what was happening i could control myself and that's why no one is dead

but No one should take that long term...very bad idea
