Tis a rev 1.5 A600HD, originally shipped with 1MB RAM, 40MB HDD and KS 2.05 (rev 37.300). It now has KS 3.1 (rev 40.630), 8MB Fast RAM from Kippers2k, 1MB Chip RAM from Individual Computers and a IDE-CF adapter I found on eBay for $10. Took it apart to remove the RF shielding and give it a bit of a dust, here it is assembled again and ready for testing...

Next upgrades will be an Indivision ECS and a RTC :thumbs up:

Downstairs I have a 500, 1200, 2000, 3000, 4000. The 1000 and 600 were two that got away.

Your'n is pretty kitted out. 2GB of storage? More'n I ever had on any of my machines.

I also have an A500 rev 6A, 1.3/3.1 kick switch, 1MB Chip RAM and a GVP HD8+ with 8MB Fast RAM and a 350MB HDD, that's next on my to do list. I used to have a lot of Amiga's (2 x A1000's, A1200, 2 x A2000's, A3000) but they were taking up space and collecting way too much dust, I've since found them all new homes with people who will appreciate them a lot more than I did.

I've always had a soft spot for the 600, small, funky and not really that popular, guess that's why it was spared from the cull.

I had a spare 2GB card just sitting here, seemed like a good use for it. I guess it will fill eventually...

Nice :)
Yes the Amiga 600 has certainly it's charms.
Btw you can put a 4gb cf card in your Amiga, you only have to format it in two partitions of 2 gb. I did that with my A1200.

Thank you Schpeel :) Yeah, I know I could have put a 4GB card in, but I didn't have a spare one lying around and I doubt I'll ever fill 4GB anyway.

The A600 was downright hated by most when it came out. Cybereye's family's Amiga store couldn't move the damn things. It came out in 1992 and had essentially the same specs as an Amiga 1000 that came out 7 years earlier. The PC upgrade cycle craze had started at that point and the A600 just showed how out of it Commodore were IMO.

I actually got my start on ebay around late 1996 to early 1997 clearing out some of the store amiga inventory for the family. There were a number of NOS Amiga 600 to move. I remember how poorly they sold compared to everything else. Practically anything Amiga was pulling in good money on eBay back then, the A600s I don't think we got $100 each! (On a side note, eBay back then was NO FUN. You had to create the ads by hand with HTML. WSIWYG? LMAO, no.)

Anyhow, fast forward to the 10's and those A600 are extremely desirable to Amigans. A mint condition A600 would be get a hell of a lot more than an A500 or A1200 on eBay now.

Nice system, enjoy it :)

BTW, do yourself a favor and get an Indivision flicker fixer. That will be the best investment yet.

Well, I got my A1200 'pimped' to be able to play whdload games, and I know for sure I won't be able to put all whdload games on my 4gb harddisk. Maybe I'm just spoiled :D

Ok I just wondered. I mean, things like the effect of colour cycling does need to be emulated somehow?

I'm not aware of any issues. All it does is take the video output and convert it to SVGA. It is all done in hardware, no software needed.

Thanks Red and the Indivision is next on my list, may even fork out for an ACA 630 too, we shall see.

Another mod I'm looking at is mounting motherboard stand-offs near the CPU, will have to do some reading on that one, don't want to go drilling through anything important...

The A600 was C='s race to the bottom but they forgot that the price needs to follow.

Well, the Indivision arrived and it working like a charm, anyone have any good ideas where I could mount the VGA port in a way that makes it look as though it was always there?

A600 II (1024).jpg
Thought I'd update this post with a pic of everything installed, made me think about it as I'd set the A600 up on my desk the other day for a little retro gaming:

A600 running.JPG
The 27" Dell really dwarfs the 19" the A600 is running on :D

Nicely done. Man, and Pinball Fantasies, too. You make me want to dig out my A1200, now. Never mind the 8,000 other things I need to be doing, instead. lol
